About This Role
Defining the gold standard for AI-generated toxicology data and reports is the core of this role, owning the toxicology evaluation, training-data, and validation pipelines. You will ensure the AI agent is regulatory-grade by generating and curating high-quality data and evaluating AI outputs against IND requirements. This role suits a Staff Toxicologist who will collaborate with engineering, evals, and science teams to benchmark and improve agent performance.
Responsibilities
- Architect strategies for data assembly and synthesis for evaluating and training toxicology capabilities of AI agents
- Identify optimal data sources, whether through synthetic generation, consortia, licensed datasets, or other novel approaches
- Serve as the internal expert on IND-ready toxicology reports for Phase 1 clinical trials
- Evaluate and validate AI-generated toxicology
- Assure and optimize scientific integrity of AI-generated outputs for accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Orchestrate cross-functional approaches with engineering, evals, and science teams to benchmark and improve agent performance
- Iterate with AI tools (including our platform) to refine data quality and agent capabilities
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in toxicology/DMPK, or direct involvement in 10+ IND-enabling toxicology reports
- Deep experience synthesizing raw CRO toxicology study data into clean, FDA-ready IND submissions for Phase 1 clinical trials
- Proficiency with the standard commercial software suite used in preparing regulatory toxicology reports
- Background in non-clinical toxicology, including target animal safety and related study types
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as the sole scientific architect of the toxicology work stream at Edison
- AI-curious mindset: comfortable and enthusiastic about iterating with AI/LLM tools to identify data sources and improve outputs
- Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
Nice to have:
- PhD in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or related field preferred (real-world experience is prioritized)
- Prior experience with computational toxicology tools and resources
- Previous AI/ML work applied to toxicology
- Experience at big pharma companies or consulting organizations serving big pharma
- Exposure to orphan/rare disease toxicology programs
- Experience with gene therapy non-clinical strategies
Benefits
