About the role

The Staff Associate I will support research on the neural and molecular mechanisms underlying feeding behavior, energy balance, glucose homeostasis, and obesity-related metabolic disorders. The role will contribute to studies using inducible neuron-specific genetic mouse models to investigate lactate metabolism and cellular redox regulation in hypothalamic neurons. Responsibilities include mouse colony management, genotyping, tamoxifen induction, metabolic phenotyping, tissue collection & other procedures.

Duties and responsibilities:

Knowledge of the research subject and scientific methods of analysis (30%)

Utilizes analytical skills to solve moderately complex problems based on guidelines, protocols and procedures (20%)

Works within guidelines to carry out assigned duties in the design of apparatus, the adaptation of relevant technology to the needs of the project, the conduct of specific experiments and the analysis of the data (10%)

Ability to operate and maintain equipment, computers, software programs and research (20%)

Shares information and confirmation of data (20%)

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of professional work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of handling mice and conducting metabolism-related experiments
