Staff Airport Engineer

About This Role

This engineering role at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PA) involves working with tenant projects at John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport, which are crucial for operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure. The Tenant Project Manager for the JFK Tenant Facilities Office oversees compliance with the Tenant Construction and Alteration Process (TCAP) for tenant construction, alteration, or maintenance work within their leased premises at JFK airport. The Project Manager acts as a point of contact between the Port Authority team and the Tenant's team, advising business partners, tenants, consultants, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all tenant leasehold modifications are performed consistently with the established Tenant Construction and Alteration Process (TCAP) and Tenant Construction Review Manual (TCRM)
• Maintain the integrity of the Tenant Construction and Alteration Process (TCAP) and deliver projects within the metrics set up by the central TCAP office
• Track all pertinent information regarding Tenant Alteration Application (TAA) and Minor Work Application (MWA) projects, including chairing project kickoff meetings with the Tenant and their Architect / Engineer of Record
• Facilitate meetings between the Quality Assurance Design (QAD) Standards Unit and Tenant A/EOR to resolve Rider comments
• Follow up both internally and externally with appropriate parties to assure that next step items are meeting deadlines
• Work closely with JFK Resident Engineer
• Office (REO) staff to assure that a tenant project gets Final Permit of Occupancy or Use on behalf of the Facility Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor
• s degree in engineering, architecture or construction management
• A minimum of three (3) years
• hands-on experience in project management, design, inspection and/or construction
• Must possess a valid driver
• s license
• Demonstrated knowledge of New York City Building Code requirements, construction standards, and other applicable Engineering Design codes

Nice to have:

• Proficiency with Trimble Unity Construct (formerly eBuilder), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
• Experience in construction management or engineering project management
• Experience with PA Tenant Construction Review Manual (TCRM) and Tenant Construction and Alteration Process (TCAP) Manual
• Experience in aviation and/or facilities design and operations
• Demonstrated knowledge of contract administration and the principles, methods and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating and managing projects and resources
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently utilizing limited available resources to achieve complex goals
