Staff Accountant

About This Role

This accounting role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with month-end close processes, and supporting revenue recognition. It suits a detail-oriented individual with a foundational understanding of accounting principles who can contribute to a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions, including reviewing and entering vendor invoices, verifying supporting documentation, and ensuring accurate coding and timely processing
• Contribute to Accounts Receivable operations, including applying cash receipts, reconciling customer accounts, and strategically managing outstanding and aging AR balances
• Assist with month-end close processes, including performing bank reconciliations and processing journal entries
• Assist with revenue recognition by reviewing billing activity and ensuring revenue is recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting policies
• Reconcile corporate credit card accounts by reviewing transactions, verifying supporting documentation and coding, and resolving discrepancies
• Support the monthly process to remit payment to channel partners, building managers, and vendors/suppliers
• Contribute to the development of company-wide policies to support business operations
• Support financial audits by providing requested documentation and information
• Conduct cost analyses and assist with various ad hoc accounting tasks and projects
• Perform additional duties assigned based on variations in team workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 1+ years of accounting-related experience
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and GAAP accounting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build effective relationships both internal and external
• Demonstrated team player; fosters a positive and collaborative team environment
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, take initiative and work within deadlines
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
• Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly

Nice to have:

• CPA
• Elementary or better proficiency with mid-tier ERP systems (Sage Intacct)
