Staff Accountant

About This Role

The Staff Accountant will oversee specific financial transactions for the Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP), a 501(c)(3) that assists over 4,000 qualified families in obtaining quality and affordable housing. This role involves supporting nonprofit and government financial operations and reports to the Finance Director and Deputy Finance Director.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly payment process of approximately $7 million
• Prepare Voucher Management System (VMS) financial and unit reporting to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
• Manage vendor setup and process changes to existing vendor details
• Manage deposit handling and transaction recording in the accounting system
• Manage repayment agreement transactions
• Provide staff support to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
• Assist with the yearly financial and single audits and tax returns
• Assist with special projects
• Provide support to the Finance Operations Director & Deputy and the Executive Director
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 1-2 years of experience in financial operations of a nonprofit organization that receives federal funds
• Advanced knowledge of financial management and internal controls
• Adept with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Honesty and integrity

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Yardi database
• Experience processing Accounts Payable
• Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Voucher Management System (VMS)
