About the role
Our lab aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of cell-cell signaling in development and diseases. Under supervision, the individual hired will primarily be involved in genotyping of mice necessary for management of the mouse colony. This work requires molecular biology techniques, especially PCR, gel electrophoresis of nucleic acid, and preparation and manipulation of DNA.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and protocols
- Ability to keep track of animal numbers during PCR and gel electrophoresis
- Time management skills to complete the assigned tasks within 16 hours
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills to aid in the smooth operation of the laboratory by maintaining adequate supplies and equipment operation
- Ability to handle unpleasant elements and wear protective clothing or equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in immunostaining as acquired in school
- Experience in tissue processing as acquired in school
