About The Role We are seeking a driven, self-starting Senior Backend Engineer who is passionate about building scalable, resilient systems and solving complex engineering challenges. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of critical services at the core of our security platform, influencing how we develop software and leverage emerging AI-powered development practices to accelerate delivery without compromising quality, security, or reliability. The successful candidate will collaborate with security analysts, product managers, and engineers across the organization to design, build, and operate backend systems that make a meaningful impact on our security operations. We value engineers who think beyond routine tickets, challenge assumptions, take initiative, and contribute to elevating both people and technology. This position requires onsite presence five days a week, emphasizing close collaboration within a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend engineering, with extensive experience in Python development for production systems at scale. Proficiency with FastAPI and/or Django is essential, including expertise in asynchronous programming, dependency injection, API design, versioning, and security frameworks. A deep understanding of distributed systems, microservice architectures, messaging patterns, and resilience strategies is required. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Amazon RDS, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations, is vital. Familiarity with deploying and managing containerized workloads on AWS using Kubernetes and EKS is necessary. Additionally, candidates should have practical knowledge of modern CI/CD practices, GitHub Actions, and GitOps deployment tools such as FluxCD. Strong communication skills, proactive ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset are crucial, along with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities As a Senior Backend Engineer, your responsibilities will include taking ownership of the design, development, and operation of production-grade Python microservices utilizing FastAPI and Django where appropriate. You will implement modern architectural principles such as domain-driven design, asynchronous programming, and clean architecture to ensure scalable and maintainable systems. Building and evolving event-driven architectures that are resilient by design, incorporating patterns like idempotency, retry handling, dead-letter queues, and back-pressure management will be key. You will manage services from conception through deployment, operating within AWS environments using technologies such as EKS, RDS/PostgreSQL, IAM, messaging services, and S3, with infrastructure managed through Terraform and delivered via GitHub Actions and FluxCD. Collaboration with frontend engineers working within an Angular microfrontend architecture will be essential to create seamless, versioned APIs. You will champion engineering excellence through comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing, emphasizing observability, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing to facilitate rapid diagnosis and resolution of issues. Your role also involves influencing technical direction through architecture discussions, code reviews, security-focused design reviews, and threat modeling exercises. Active participation in Agile planning, estimation, retrospectives, and technical decision-making will be expected, alongside helping define best practices for AI-assisted development to enhance productivity while maintaining security and maintainability.
