About This Role
This SQL Engineer role is in the Marketing Division, where the engineer will drive data utilization across the company. The work involves handling vast amounts of internal and external data, including cashless payment data, and performing data processing and analysis using SQL. The role suits a professional with strong SQL skills who can lead data utilization for business departments and customers.
Responsibilities
- Support policy delivery, report creation, and dashboard construction: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, marketing and product planning personnel, and SMBC Group companies to extract data for direct mail delivery, provide data for analysis reports, and prepare data for BI tool utilization
- Design, build, and optimize data marts: Understand business requirements and use SQL to build efficient and scalable data marts, and perform performance tuning
- Handle complex data requirements: Design and implement advanced data processing logic, including triggers and stored procedures
Requirements
- Experience collaborating with business departments: Experience in defining business requirements with business owners (or equivalent members), regardless of project scale or role
- Experience processing and analyzing large-scale data using SQL: Experience processing data based on business requirements in database environments such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and PostgreSQL (e.g., creating lists for marketing measures, data preparation for machine learning, database construction)
- Knowledge of data modeling: Basic understanding and application ability of database design and normalization
- Performance tuning experience: Experience in index design, query optimization, and stored procedure implementation
Nice to have:
- Software development environment experience: Experience using Git/GitHub and understanding of team-based codebase development
- Cloud platform operation experience: Experience in database design and operation using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Financial data knowledge: Basic knowledge of financial industry-specific data flows, security, and compliance
- Agile development: Experience executing projects using Scrum
- Interest in latest technologies: Experience in data analysis using AI and design/use of NoSQL databases
