Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced SQE/Foundry Process & Quality Engineer with 5–10 years of relevant experience in casting and manufacturing quality. The role will focus on improving foundry processes, reducing casting defects, strengthening process controls, analyzing quality and production data, and supporting the stabilization of complex cast components.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve casting defects, including porosity, core shift, NCU, and over-grinding.
- Conduct process audits and verify adherence to applicable control plans, procedures, and quality standards.
- Analyze production, yield, and scrap data to identify trends and corrective actions.
- Lead structured problem-solving activities using 8D, DOE, root cause analysis, and Pareto analysis.
- Collaborate with foundry and machining teams to address quality issues.
- Interpret engineering drawings, casting/machining specifications, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
- Support Lean Six Sigma and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Support production ramp-up, process stabilization, and quality improvement for complex cast components.
- Communicate findings, corrective actions, and improvement activities with relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proven experience with foundry operations and sand and/or iron casting.
- Experience in manufacturing quality, process improvement, and problem-solving.
- Experience with casting-defect investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience with 8D, DOE, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience conducting process or manufacturing audits.
- Ability to analyze production, yield, and scrap data.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Experience working with CAD models or engineering design data.
- Professional fluency in English and Spanish.
- Ability to meet the position's work authorization and travel requirements.
Work Requirements:
- This position is onsite in Emiliano Zapata, Mexico.
- Frequent business travel to the United States and Canada is required.
- Candidates must have valid authorization to work in Mexico and the ability to obtain or maintain any authorization required for the anticipated U.S. and Canadian travel.
- The role requires collaboration with foundry, machining, production, quality, and other engineering stakeholders.
- Candidates should be able to work effectively in both English- and Spanish-speaking professional environments.
