Sports Program Director

About This Role

Directing sports programs for the YMCA of Southern Nevada at its Heinrich and Durango Hills locations is the core of this role. It involves overseeing daily operations for gymnasium rentals, youth and adult sports programs, facility rentals, and birthday party coordination, as well as driving strategic growth for sports programming. The position suits an experienced individual capable of managing staff and ensuring high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management of gym rentals, sports programs, personal training/sports conditioning, and facility use
• Drive the strategic growth and development of sports programming, including launching and expanding competitive leagues for both youth and adults
• Process all program and rental payments according to YMCA procedures
• Draft and manage contracts for facility rentals and sports programs
• Ensure all agreements comply with YMCA standards and policies, including the Youth Protection Policy
• Monitor and meet financial goals by managing budgets, collecting rental payments, and analyzing revenue/expense reports
• Directly supervise up to 10 part-time staff
• Manage staff schedules, payroll accuracy, and departmental reporting
• Provide exceptional customer service and address concerns in a timely, professional manner
• Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk
• Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk
• Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth
• Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse
• Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures
• Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors
• Follow mandated reporting requirements
• Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse
• Report essential abuse risk management information to their supervisor, executive director, or human resources

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• At least 1-2 years of experience coordinating sports programs, leagues, facility rentals, or recreational services
• Strong administrative skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Mature, dependable, and genial person with the ability to communicate with people of all ages and from all backgrounds
• American Red Cross CPR/ First Aid for Professional Rescuers Certification within 30 days of hire
