Job Description:
- Schedule: Hours: M-F, 8A-6P with possibility for some weekends
- Other duties as assigned.
- Acts as a resource to pharmacy, risk management, quality, and performance improvement departments.
- Leads the review and evaluation of medication safety practices and recommends process improvements.
- Manages and implements medication safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Oversees adverse drug event reporting activities and evaluates significant medication variances.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Competent in medical terminology, medication names and medication use [Required]
- Proficient with prescription-filling software and other computer skills [Required]
- Ability to work under pressure [Required]
- Ability to interact professionally with public and other medical staff [Required]
- Knowledge of compounding oral/topical medications [Required]
Education:
- Associate's in physical science, business or healthcare related field [Preferred]
- High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Work Experience:
- 3+ years pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, central fill or hospital setting [Required]
- 5+ years retail pharmacy experience [Preferred]
- Previous experience in a managed healthcare organization, medical insurance company, pharmacy benefit management or other healthcare related entity. [Preferred]
- Prior experience processing and filling prescriptions [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) [Required]
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) [Required]
