About the role
Special Education Transportation BUS MONITOR Job Goal To assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for students by maintaining order on a school bus or van by directly supporting individual children as needed.
Qualification: Maine Department of Education CHRC certification (Criminal History Record Check) Performance Responsibilities
- Assists the driver in maintaining appropriate student conduct on the bus or van.
- Assists young or disabled students with getting on and off the bus or van; operates wheelchair lift and strapping and securing wheelchair in the bus; assist with seat belts and harnesses, where appropriate.
- Assures that students get on and off the bus or van in an orderly fashion
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness of the interior of the vehicle
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned
