SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (PEP) -Grace Hopper Pathways

This position is a 1.0 FTE located at the Grace Hopper Pathways. This position serves as the Program for Employment Preparedness (PEP) Teacher.

Responsibilities:

• Foster partnerships and ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress.
• Plan and implement appropriate instructional and/or learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials, provide appropriate learning experiences, manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning.
• Assist students and families in the transition process for PEP, including attending transition IEP meetings and collaborating with base school Transition Coordinators for referrals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

• Experience teaching high school students with special needs.
• Knowledge of best instructional practices.
• Ability to integrate technology.

Qualifications:

• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Special Education endorsement.
• Excellent public speaking skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
