Spanish Teacher

About This Role

This teaching post in a middle college focused on nursing careers involves delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction in Spanish. The teacher will implement rigorous strategies, foster a learning culture, and support students' academic, social, and emotional growth, collaborating with leadership, colleagues, and families to prepare students for success in nursing and healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Teach content and skills in certified secondary topics aligned with state standards, ACT benchmarks, and NursesMC curricula, demonstrating depth of knowledge in the subject matter
• Develop lesson plans and materials consistent with the NursesMC-Nashville mission, vision, and state standards while supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and personal health growth, connecting content to nursing and allied health applications
• Design student activities that are meaningful, sequential, and aligned with the NursesMC-Nashville mission and real-world nursing applications
• Differentiate instruction, lessons, and assessments based on student needs, collaborating with the Student Academic Support Team (SAST) to accommodate ILPs, PLPs, IEPs, 504 plans, and ELL needs
• Utilize data to drive instruction and intervention
• Provide individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students in pull-out and/or classroom settings
• Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention for students who need additional support
• Collaborate with the Student Support Team, Grade Level MTSS teams, and families to address students' educational, health, and emotional needs
• Monitor and adjust student interventions and care plans to ensure they are effective and meet individual needs
• Create a respectful and supportive classroom environment that fosters positive relationships among students and promotes collaboration
• Establish a culture of learning with high expectations for academic and professional growth, supported by verbal and nonverbal encouragement
• Maintain classroom routines and procedures to optimize learning time and provide a clean, organized, and distraction-free environment
• Uphold the school's high standards for student behavior and professionalism
• Consistently model the NursesMC-Nashville Pillars of Nursing: character, scholarship, compassion and empathy, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff
• Actively engage in school initiatives, professional learning, and collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, embracing feedback and sharing insights to support continuous growth and community improvement
• Build community by partnering with families on their student's academic success and personal development
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including grades, attendance, behavior, and communication logs with students and families, to ensure compliance with school policies
