Sonographer

About This Role

This role is for a Band 7 Sonographer, rotating between the City campus, Treatment Centre, QMC campus, and the Community Diagnostic Centre opening in 2027. You will work alongside a highly experienced team, developing new skills in a busy department, and providing both Obstetric and non-Obstetric services across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Undertake ultrasound within your area of specialty
• Maintain a high standard of work and strive for continual improvements in Ultrasound standards and patient care
• Obtain high quality diagnostic images
• Triage workflow and patients by collaborating with colleagues to maximize departmental efficiency
• Establish and maintain a good working relationship with other members of staff and disciplines
• Provide professional and clinical expertise within Obstetric and Non-Obstetric Ultrasound services
• Share clinical knowledge, provide teaching, and mentor and support staff during Ultrasound training
• Perform ultrasound examinations independently and provide a diagnostic report on a minimum of 95% of all examinations
• Perform high quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations and provide a concise detailed report of the findings in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures
• Explain procedures to patients in a manner that facilitates their full understanding of the examination, and ensure informed consent is obtained
• Effectively communicate scan findings to the patient, displaying empathy and providing support when needed
• Effectively communicate scan findings to clinicians
• Maintain a good standard of self-discipline and follow NUH Values and Behaviours policy
• Assist the Ultrasound Modality Manager in the management of the service as requested

Requirements

• B.Sc.Hons in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent professional body
• Qualified to perform ultrasound examinations

Important Details

• Schedule: primarily 8am-6pm Monday-Friday, transitioning to a 7-day service
• Work locations: City Hospital Campus, Queens Medical Centre Campus, Nottingham Treatment Centre, Community Diagnostic Centre (opening 2027)
