Sommelier

About This Role

Serving guests in a new French brasserie, rotisserie, and wine bar, the Sommelier recommends wines, manages the wine shop, and develops the wine list. This role suits a passionate sommelier who will also handle purchasing, inventory, and training.

Responsibilities

• Report to the General Manager and undertake duties as directed by the company
• Provide wine recommendations and professional service to restaurant and wine-bar guests
• Manage the retail wine shop, ensuring attractive displays, correct pricing, and stock availability
• Handle wine purchasing, ordering, inventory, and stock control
• Maintain and develop the wine list in collaboration with management
• Organise regular wine tastings, winemaker dinners, masterclasses, and other wine events
• Develop retail wine sales and build relationships with regular customers
• Train and educate the service team on wines, regions, vintages, and food pairing
• Work actively on the restaurant floor and contribute to the overall guest experience
• Maintain strong relationships with wine suppliers and distributors
• Help drive both on-premise and retail wine revenue
