About The Role We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Engineering Manager to lead a critical service group within our Decision Management Platform, focused on fraud detection. This role is vital in driving engineering excellence, scaling delivery capabilities, and cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for aligning engineering strategies with business goals, mentoring high-performing teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-volume software solutions that operate with low latency and high availability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, operations, and executive leadership to deliver industry-leading fraud prevention solutions that safeguard our customers and uphold Mastercard’s reputation for security and reliability.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in software engineering and architecture, particularly within high-stakes, mission-critical environments. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, with 10-12 years of professional experience in software development, including leadership roles overseeing complex, distributed, and scalable systems. Proven expertise in fintech, digital payments, authentication, or identity systems is highly desirable. Candidates should have a deep understanding of security protocols, secure SDLC, PCI compliance, and operational excellence practices. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, service-oriented architecture, and observability platforms is essential. Demonstrated success in leading organizational transformations or platform evolutions will be advantageous. Strong technical acumen combined with excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with Mastercard’s business objectives, focusing on innovation, scalability, and security.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software products on time and within budget, ensuring adherence to best practices such as DevOps, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and delivery risks across programs and initiatives to ensure reliable and secure platform operations.
- Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams through effective coaching, career development, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and innovation within the engineering teams.
- Own the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Implement and continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics to optimize team productivity, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure operational readiness through incident response planning, monitoring, and maintaining high service reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, operations, and business stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, and strategic roadmaps.
- Communicate technical vision, progress, and challenges effectively to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear, actionable insights.
