About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Engineering Manager to lead our Software Engineering team focused on Java-based solutions within our Decision Management Platform for fraud detection. This critical role involves overseeing the development and delivery of high-performance, scalable, and secure software systems designed to combat fraud in real-time. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for defining strategic technical directions, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating closely with product, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of complex projects.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in software engineering and architecture is required, with proven leadership roles in managing mission-critical, distributed, and scalable systems. Experience in fintech, digital payments, authentication, or identity management systems is highly desirable.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of security protocols, secure software development lifecycle (SDLC), PCI compliance, and operational best practices. Familiarity with reliability engineering, observability platforms, incident management, and performance tuning is essential. Demonstrated success in leading organizational transformations or platform evolutions will be advantageous.

Technical expertise should include modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, service-oriented architectures, and experience managing budgets, forecasting, and resource planning. Exceptional communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear strategies are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Execution

• Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with Mastercard’s business goals and objectives.
• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products on schedule and within budget.
• Promote engineering best practices, including DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and agile methodologies.
• Identify potential technical and delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.

People Leadership & Coaching

• Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams through targeted career development, coaching, and performance management.
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous learning among team members.
• Set clear goals, provide ongoing feedback, and develop individualized growth plans for team members.

Operational Excellence

• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and support.
• Continuously enhance engineering processes, tools, and metrics to optimize team productivity and product quality.
• Ensure operational readiness, including incident response, monitoring, and maintaining service reliability.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with Product, Operations, and Business stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, and roadmaps.
• Communicate technical strategies, progress, and challenges effectively to executive leadership and non-technical audiences.
• Represent the engineering function in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation discussions.
