Software Engineer (PostgresSQL)

• We’re looking for a versatile Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering organization and help shape the resilience, performance, and developer experience of Adyen’s database platform
• In 2026, this platform supports payments and money movement totaling over a trillion euros - the work you do will have a real, high-stakes impact
• You’ll join the SQL Databases Enablement Team, whose mission is to improve the efficiency of the SQL Databases Teams as well as to enable the autonomy of the database owners while maintaining data durability and database uptime.”
• We are responsible for providing better insight into databases, the release tools to manage schema changes safely, as well as the extension of databases both to new DCs and existing ones as well as deployment to bare metal and OpenStack, and various additional tools automated and semi-automated
• You’ll work across networking, compute, and storage, designing systems that detect failures and recover automatically with minimal downtime
• Build the Platform: Design and develop tooling and services in languages like Java, Python, Go or Rust. We also widely use ansible and puppet
• Automate: Identify opportunities to migrate manual tasks to semi- or full automation
• Deep Dive & Debug: Investigate complex performance bottlenecks at the kernel, network, or database level. You will analyze system metrics, traces, and logs to identify root causes in a distributed environment
• Developer Experience: Treat our internal product teams as your customers. You will build tooling that abstracts the complexity of large-scale stateful systems, allowing product engineers to focus on business logic
• Operational Excellence: Participate in the on-call rotation, not just to fix fires, but to learn from them and remove/reduce the toil

• Internal knowledge of PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) and Secret Management (Vault)
• Experience operating OpenStack or managing Bare Metal fleets
• Experience with observability at scale (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)- Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days
