Software Engineer, Data Platform

About This Role

This engineering role focuses on the core data platform, which is essential for DoorDash's data-driven decisions. The team designs and operates scalable compute and ingestion frameworks, builds abstractions and tools for data workflows, and establishes data quality and compliance standards. It offers the opportunity to shape the roadmap and influence core platform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Drive vision and strategy for building the frameworks charter and position it to handle the challenges of a rapidly growing business
• Scale the analytical platform for the increasing amounts of data and use cases
• Bring expertise in building and operating high scale systems with a focus on reliability, scalability and cost efficiency
• Collaborate with stakeholders building solutions on top of the platform
• Foster a positive and supportive work culture, upleveling others

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 2+ years of industry experience in software engineering
• Proficiency in using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) in the full software development lifecycle, including designing, generating code, testing, monitoring and releasing software
• Experience working on big data domains (streaming, batch, data lake OLAP) and promoting real-time insights and data analytics at scale using technologies such as Apache Kafka, Flink, Spark, Cassandra, Clickhouse, Iceberg etc.
• Prior technical experience in Big Data infrastructure and governance
• Bonus if experience includes open-sourced technologies like DataHub, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Flink
• Experience improving efficiency, scalability, and stability of data platforms
