About This Role
Building high-performance, highly available services that restaurants depend on every day is the core of this backend-focused engineering role. You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers to shape how DashOS products connect, rather than inheriting decisions made by others.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and improve backend services for customer-facing features used by restaurants and their guests in markets around the world.
- Own features end to end, from technical design through to launch and ongoing support, including participating in an on-call rotation to keep systems reliable.
- Work on complex problems in data, latency, and scale, such as unifying guest identity across channels and real-time availability search across thousands of venues.
- Build on DoorDash's global platform, ensuring features can reach restaurants across DoorDash, Deliveroo, and Wolt markets.
- Work in a modern engineering environment with frequent daily releases, feature flags, and AI coding agents used across code review, deployment, and debugging.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers across London and other DashOS locations to decide what to build and how.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, and a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building and operating backend services or web applications in production, with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (primarily Python), with a willingness to learn new languages and tools as the platform evolves.
- A commitment to user-centric design and ownership of technical solutions from initial design to production.
- Familiarity with AI coding tools or a willingness to adopt them, along with comfort in reviewing and taking responsibility for their output.
- Enjoyment of collaboration with cross-functional teams to tackle complex problems.
Benefits
- Hybrid work pattern of 3 days a week in the office.
- Opportunities for professional development and growth within a global organization.
- Access to cutting-edge technology and tools in a modern engineering environment.
Important Details
- Schedule: Hybrid pattern of 3 days a week in the office.
Application Process
- Submit your application through the designated platform.
- Prepare for interviews that may include technical assessments and discussions with cross-functional teams.
