Job Description Backend Software Engineer (DocGen)
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid, 3 days/week in-office)

About The Role Join the team building EvenUp’s AI-powered document generation platform. You’ll own complex technical problems from design through production, working on document generation workflows where AI is a core part of the solution.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain backend services powering EvenUp’s document generation platform
- Own projects from technical design through production launch and ongoing iteration
- Build scalable systems that leverage AI within document generation workflows
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Applied AI teams to deliver customer-facing features
- Drive architectural decisions and contribute to the long-term evolution of the DocGen platform
- Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of core backend services
- Mentor teammates through technical discussions and thoughtful code reviews
What We Look For
- Strong software development experience with hands-on expertise in Python or languages such as Go, Java, Node.js, or C++
- Proven ability to design and ship scalable, production-grade systems including APIs and distributed systems
- Experience owning projects end-to-end in fast-paced, high-growth or startup environments
Bonus
- Experience with AI-powered applications, legal tech, document generation systems, or social impact–driven products
Compensation $160,000 - $250,000
