About This Role
This Software Architect position is for a client in the Defence & Aerospace industry, focusing on integrating a new C++ component into existing legacy code on another platform. The role involves extensive refactoring while development of existing functionality continues. It suits a pragmatic and confident architect eager to solve technical challenges and contribute to knowledge transfer within the team.
Responsibilities
- Refactor and integrate the new C++17/20 codebase with the legacy C/C++ architecture
- Make sure the software architecture is solid and well designed, with a clear separation between core functionality and platform-dependent modules
- Communicate independently and closely with development teams in different locations
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and training within the team throughout the project
Requirements
- Strong senior background as a Software/System Architect or lead System/Software Designer
- In-depth knowledge of modern C++ (especially C++20), plus a solid understanding of older C++ standards and C
- Strong expertise in modern software design, UML and design patterns, with the ability to apply patterns pragmatically where they bring real value
- Experience from complex, technology-intensive environments is a big advantage
- Fluency in both Norwegian and English
- Security clearance: level K (Confidential / Konfidensielt) required

- Locations: mainly on-site, less than 30 minutes from Oslo city centre, with occasional travel to a second site
- Team: work with clients in demanding sectors such as defense, energy, medtech, automotive, industry, fintech and public sector
