About This Role
This role is for a Senior Software/Systems Architect at Creai, where the primary focus is on designing, directing, and validating architectures for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. The architect will guide a team, including AI agents, in building solutions, making critical architectural decisions that AI agents cannot delegate. The position requires ensuring that the speed gained from AI does not lead to invisible technical debt, working closely with development teams, other architects, and technical stakeholders to uphold high standards of quality, security, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design detailed technical architectures for complex AI/ML-based applications, defining component structure, design patterns, and specific tech stacks for each project
- Make critical architectural decisions regarding frameworks, libraries, databases, and cloud services that impact the scalability, performance, and maintainability of solutions
- Define the limits of delegation: which components or services can be generated and validated with AI agent support, which architectural decisions require prior human design, and which systems do not allow generation without formal verification
- Technically lead development teams of 4-10 people, providing clear architectural direction and resolving complex technical blockers
- Design and implement integration strategies between multiple systems, services, and applications, defining APIs, communication protocols, and data flows
- Ensure implemented architectures comply with security best practices, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and compliance with relevant regulations
- Conduct high-level code reviews focused on architectural concerns, design patterns, security vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks
- Design complex data architectures including data pipelines, feature stores, model serving infrastructure, and data governance strategies
- Define and implement reusable architectural patterns that can be applied consistently across projects to improve velocity and quality
- Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation including architecture decision records (ADRs), system diagrams, integration patterns, and technical guides
- Establish and enforce technical quality standards, including code quality metrics, testing strategies, CI/CD practices, and monitoring approaches
- Design ML/AI system architectures that consider model training, versioning, serving, monitoring, and retraining in production environments
- Proactively identify and resolve technical debt, balancing delivery timelines with long-term maintainability and scalability concerns
- Provide technical mentorship to less experienced developers, sharing knowledge on architectural patterns, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Collaborate with other architects to ensure architectural consistency across projects and share learnings on successful patterns and anti-patterns to avoid
