About This Role
This role involves owning the end-to-end technical design of a unified platform shell, setting and defending architectural decisions across all engineering PODs, and serving as the primary technical counterpart to the client's architecture review board. The architect will focus on frontend, Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL, knowledge graph, search, eventing, and Kubernetes technologies.
Responsibilities
- Author and maintain the platform's reference architecture spanning the SPM, WMT, and KM modules under one common UI shell, plus the platform-wide AI/agentic layer
- Chair architecture decision records (ADRs) and defend design choices
- Own non-functional requirements: scale to ~20,000 users, HA/DR, security-by-design, and the internal-data-center-only hosting constraint (no SaaS/vendor hosting)
- Lead technical design for both Discovery gate reviews and sign off on each POD's detailed design before build starts
- Partner with the Security/AppSec Engineer and Program Manager to ensure the architecture satisfies the VVAH, SAST/DAST, and pen-test go-live gates by design, not by remediation
- Mentor POD-level architects/leads (Agentic AI, Data & Knowledge Graph) and ensure architectural consistency across all 10 PODs
Requirements
- 12+ years in software architecture roles, including chief/principal architect on at least one large-scale (20,000+ user) enterprise platform build
- Deep hands-on expertise in Python/FastAPI or equivalent backend stacks, PostgreSQL at scale, event-driven architecture (Kafka), and Kubernetes-based deployment
- Demonstrated experience architecting for on-prem/private-data-center hosting with strict security and compliance constraints (financial services or similarly regulated industry preferred)
- Direct experience integrating enterprise identity (Entra ID / OIDC / SCIM) and building a custom RBAC/authority model layered on top of an existing IdP
- Track record defending architecture decisions to enterprise client architecture review boards
- Strong grasp of AI/ML platform integration patterns (RAG, vector search, model gateways) at enterprise scale
- BS, MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, or equivalent degree with applicable experience
Nice to have:
- Direct experience architecting a Jira/Confluence-replacement or SPM/PPM platform
- Prior work with graph databases (Apache AGE, Neo4j, Neptune-class) and OpenSearch/HNSW vector search
- Financial-services or payments-industry architecture experience
- Published Gen-AI accelerator or agentic-platform case studies
