About This Role
Software architects design, build, and ship AI-first software, partnering with the Chief Architect and other engineers. This hands-on role suits an architect who enjoys writing code and is excited by how generative AI is changing product development.
Responsibilities
- Design AI-first systems end-to-end, covering data ingestion and structuring, retrieval and search, agentic workflows, evaluation pipelines, human-in-the-loop interfaces, and orchestration.
- Build production code, stand up prototypes, pair with engineers, and resolve ambiguity by iterating on working solutions.
- Own outcomes from architecture through release, ensuring systems are performant, economical, and stable in production, including managing LLM-backed feature costs and latency.
- Raise the bar for patterns, evaluation discipline, prompt and model strategy, and define "good" when LLMs are critical.
- Build with AI, not just on it, by leveraging agentic coding tools and autonomous/semi-autonomous development loops.
- Engage with product and domain experts to translate customer problems into AI-shaped solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering to translate architectural vision into implementable engineering roadmaps and ensure seamless integration of machine learning models and AI capabilities.
- Engage with the Product team to understand market needs and ensure the architecture supports future product directions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in architectural roles
- Proven experience architecting large-scale, secure SaaS applications
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and experience with major cloud platforms, especially AWS and serverless
- Experience with AI/ML system integration and their unique architectural considerations
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC 2, GDPR, etc.)
- Expertise in API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
- Understanding of data architecture principles and experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience working in regulated industries or compliance-focused environments is highly desirable
Nice to have:
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance domains (product safety, environmental, etc.)
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time processing systems
- Background in implementing zero-trust security models
