Social Group Coordinator

About This Role

Coordinating social groups for older people is the core of this role, planning and delivering welcoming programs that help participants build friendships, enjoy activities, and stay connected with their community. The role involves understanding individual needs and ensuring appropriate support during activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate activities shaped by participants' interests, abilities, and cultural backgrounds
• Organise centre-based sessions, community outings, and celebrations, including venues, transport, and refreshments
• Work with participants, families, and Care Partners to understand support, access, and dietary needs
• Coordinate support workers and volunteers so participants receive appropriate assistance during activities
• Plan for group safety, respond to concerns, and follow incident reporting procedures
• Maintain attendance and program records, gather feedback, and manage activity costs within approved budgets

Requirements

• Experience facilitating groups, lifestyle programs, or community activities, ideally with older people
• Strong organisation and communication skills, with confidence leading activities and coordinating a team
• A person-centred approach that supports choice, inclusion, and cultural preferences
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates, and a National Police Check or willingness to obtain
• NDIS Worker Screening where required
• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel locally, with an insured vehicle where required

Nice to have:

• Qualifications in Leisure and Health, Community Services, Individual Support, or a related field
• Greek, Italian language skills
• Experience supporting people living with dementia
