Role Overview
The Site Safety Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and promoting safe working practices across the construction site to ensure project activities are carried out in compliance with applicable Malaysian safety regulations, project requirements, and Exyte's HSE standards.
The role will work closely with the Project Management, Construction, Engineering, subcontractors, workers, and HSE teams to identify hazards, implement control measures, and maintain a safe working environment throughout the project.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor daily construction activities and ensure compliance with site safety requirements, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
- Ensure subcontractors and workers comply with approved risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work requirements, and safe work procedures.
- Conduct and participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, inductions, and safety awareness activities.
- Monitor high-risk activities including lifting, working at height, hot work, excavation, confined space, electrical works, and work involving mobile equipment.
- Ensure appropriate PPE and safety equipment are used and maintained.
- Support implementation of emergency response, fire prevention, evacuation, and other site safety procedures.
- Report and assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions and ensure identified safety issues are followed through to closure.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and site supervisors to address safety concerns and improve site safety performance.
- Maintain safety inspection records, reports, permits, training records, and other HSE documentation.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, meetings, and client/HSE reviews.
- Stop or escalate unsafe work where there is an immediate risk to personnel, equipment, or the project.
- Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across the project.
Education and Skill
- Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Construction , or related field.
- Must possess a valid Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) competency/registration recognized by DOSH/JKKP Malaysia , where applicable.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction safety experience .
- Experience in data center, industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction projects is preferred.
- Good knowledge of Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health requirements and construction safety practices.
- Good understanding of risk assessment, method statements, permit-to-work, toolbox meetings, and site inspections.
- Experience in monitoring high-risk construction activities is preferred.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong safety awareness with the confidence to enforce safety requirements on site.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Able to work effectively with multinational teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Willing to work extended hours, shifts, weekends, or public holidays when required by project activities.
