We’re looking for a Shopify Developer to partner with a growing team on the design, development, and optimization of high-performing Shopify Plus experiences. This role is hands-on and strategic—ideal for someone who enjoys owning technical decisions, collaborating cross-functionally, and building scalable ecommerce solutions.
You’ll work remotely day-to-day, with monthly onsite collaboration in Detroit to align with stakeholders and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead development efforts for Shopify Plus storefronts, from architecture through launch and optimization
- Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Implement custom features, integrations, and workflows aligned with business goals
- Partner closely with designers, product managers, and marketing teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure performance, accessibility, and scalability best practices across builds
- Troubleshoot complex issues and provide ongoing optimization and support
- Serve as a technical lead, providing guidance and code reviews as needed
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience developing on Shopify Plus
- Strong expertise in Liquid , Shopify theme development, and customization
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend best practices
- Experience integrating third-party apps, APIs, and custom solutions
- Proven ability to lead projects independently in a freelance environment
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with distributed teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with headless or custom Shopify architectures
- Familiarity with ecommerce performance optimization and CRO
- Prior agency or fast-paced startup experience
- Experience working directly with stakeholders or clients
