About This Role
This role is for a hands-on developer with meaningful Shopify experience, not a general web developer. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in Shopify themes and translating business, marketing, and design requirements into high-quality, responsive, maintainable storefront experiences. You will own assigned development tasks from intake through testing and completion.
Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, maintain, and optimize Shopify storefronts across multiple brands
- Build and modify Shopify themes, templates, sections, snippets, product pages, collection pages, cart experiences, landing pages, navigation, and site-wide components
- Use Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify’s theme architecture to deliver responsive and maintainable solutions
- Convert approved designs, mockups, tickets, and functional requirements into polished, production-ready Shopify experiences
- Complete assigned work in the team’s task-management system, including reviewing requirements, updating task status, documenting progress, and meeting deadlines
- Flag questions, risks, scope concerns, technical limitations, and dependencies early—before they affect a deadline or launch
- Troubleshoot bugs, broken functionality, layout issues, theme conflicts, app issues, and storefront performance concerns
- Test development work across major browsers, devices, and screen sizes before requesting QA or deployment
- Work with third-party Shopify apps, integrations, APIs, pixels, analytics tools, payment tools, reviews platforms, subscriptions, shipping tools, and other e-commerce systems as needed
- Support marketing promotions, product launches, campaigns, site updates, merchandising changes, landing pages, and conversion-focused initiatives
- Help improve site speed, mobile usability, accessibility, SEO-related technical requirements, and overall user experience
- Follow established development standards, version-control practices, QA procedures, documentation requirements, and release processes
- Maintain clean, readable, and reusable code that can be supported by other team members
- Communicate clearly with the Team Lead and relevant stakeholders regarding progress, completion, blockers, estimates, and needed clarification
- Document technical changes, implementation notes, known issues, workarounds, and relevant handoff information
- Participate in sprint planning, standups, team meetings, task reviews, retrospectives, and cross-functional project discussions
- Assist with platform migrations, theme upgrades, app evaluations, new functionality, and process improvements as assigned
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional Shopify development experience
- Demonstrable experience building, customizing, and maintaining Shopify themes
