Shop & Post Office Assistant

About This Role

Serving customers in a family-run convenience store and Post Office is the core of this role, which involves moving between shop and Post Office counters, replenishing stock, and accepting deliveries. The position suits someone who enjoys being busy, learning new skills, and working as part of a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers on both the shop and Post Office counters
• Handle cash accurately and responsibly
• Process Post Office transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and bill payments
• Replenish and rotate stock
• Receive and put away deliveries
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming store
• Follow security procedures and health & safety standards
• Minimise waste and be mindful of business costs
• Build positive relationships with customers
• Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment

Requirements

• Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
• Friendly, approachable, and confident in communicating with people
• Enthusiastic, trustworthy, punctual, and reliable
• Self-motivated and able to use their own initiative
• Willing to learn and take on new challenges
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Flexible with working hours (store is open from 6am–9pm, seven days a week)
• Competent using technology and quick to learn new systems

Nice to have:

• Previous retail experience
• Previous Post Office experience or training (full training will be provided for the right candidate)
