About This Role
This Sheet Metal Worker role involves fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal components for various construction and manufacturing projects. The position suits a motivated and skilled individual who can work with precision and collaborate effectively within a dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized tooling
- Fabricate custom parts according to detailed specifications and blueprints
- Weld, grind, and finish metal surfaces to ensure smoothness and durability
- Install fabricated sheet metal components accurately on-site or in manufacturing settings
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling materials and operating machinery
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot fabrication issues and improve processes
Requirements
- Proficiency in fabrication techniques including cutting, bending, welding, and grinding of sheet metal
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to assembly processes and tool operation
- Experience with hand tools such as snips, hammers, drills, and measuring devices
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and layout work
- Knowledge of tooling used in sheet metal work to enhance precision and efficiency
- Familiarity with welding techniques (MIG/TIG) for joining metals securely
- Ideally completed apprenticeship in a related field
- NVQ level 3 in a relevant field
- Field experience with reference and proof of longevity
- Driving preferred (needs to be able to travel to and from workshop, Grimsby based)
Nice to have:
- Preferred licences: Forktruck, iPaf, CCNSG or equivalent site safety passport
