PECS Senior Transport Manager Location: Home Based Salary: £45,000 – 50,000 plus excellent benefits including 25 days' annual leave, matched pension and more Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week Ready to impact a better future? As our PECS Senior Transport Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership across a nationwide fleet operation, ensuring our vehicles, assets, and transport teams operate to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.

We're looking for an experienced fleet professional to lead a small team of Regional Transport Managers and oversee the effective management of the Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) vehicle fleet. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact within a complex, highly regulated environment where operational excellence and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

As Senior PECS Transport Fleet Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with PSV Operator Licence requirements, UK transport legislation, company policies, and customer expectations, while maintaining fleet availability, controlling costs, and driving operational performance across the business.

What you'll do as a Senior PECS Transport Fleet Manager In This Role, You'll Be Trusted To

  • Lead and support a team of Regional Transport Managers, promoting high performance, accountability, and professional development.
  • Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence legislative obligations, Company Policies, and Road Transport directives.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance contracts, monitoring contractor performance, maintenance quality, compliance, and value for money.
  • Manage fleet budgets and maintenance expenditure, ensuring effective cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain fleet availability targets, ensuring operational readiness across the PECS transport network.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fleet operations, maintenance practices, and transport compliance activities.
  • Manage disposal programmes, fleet inventories, and asset registers.
  • Ensure successful completion of internal and external audits, maintaining high compliance standards across all operating centres.
  • Oversee driver qualification, training, and competency management programmes.
  • Lead investigations into vehicle accidents and incidents, ensuring lessons learned and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for road transport safety advice and guidance across the business.
  • Develop and maintain transport business continuity plans, supporting resilience across the operation.

Does this sound like you? You'll be well suited to this role if you have:

  • A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Public Service Vehicles.
  • Experience managing large vehicle fleets within a regulated transport environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of PSV Operator Licence requirements and UK road transport legislation.
  • Proven experience of contract management, budget control, and supplier performance management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience developing and leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A customer-focused approach combined with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
