Senior Technical Program Manager, Region Services

About This Role

This senior technical program manager role is within the Region Services organization, delivering large-scale programs for mission-critical clouds. The Senior Technical Program Manager leads cross-functional and technical teams through design, requirements, build, testing, assurance, and deployment, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver program roadmaps and strategies. The role suits an exceptionally strong communicator and positive influencer who can handle business escalations with a data-driven approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-profile programs across multiple supporting teams to deliver successful outcomes for customers and AWS
• Anticipate bottlenecks, proactively seek solutions to problems, provide escalation management and tradeoff decisions that benefit the program
• Earn trust through regular communication with senior management on program status and risks, demonstrating the ability to synthesize problems and solutions into a simple and consumable manner
• Rely heavily on influence over authority to drive project deliverables
• Own the metrics for project success and define, measure, and report on these metrics, including data collection, analytics, and dashboard creation
• Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the region and with peers globally
• Demonstrate ownership to help improve the safety, security, and availability of region operations
• Mentor, train, and develop career progression for indirect reports and members of the organization (Technicians and Technical Program Managers)
• Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective
• Look around corners to identify risks early and take quick action
• Effectively balance ownership and hold partner teams to high standards of responsibility
• Leverage technical and project-focused backgrounds to deep dive issues and develop mitigations to minimize impact
• Investigate and address where the program is at risk/blocked, or discuss radical new approaches to improve operational processes
• Identify and manage stakeholders, assemble resources, set roadmaps, schedules and strategies for the program, drive progress, and hold the bar on quality

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
• Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
• Experience in system design
• Must be an Australian citizen and hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance with the ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment
