About the role
Principal System Test Engineer
Southampton | Hybrid
Most test engineering roles involve executing someone else's plan.
This one doesn't.
The challenge here is figuring out how complex wireless systems behave when the real world gets involved.
The work sits where RF, software, digital systems and 5G communications meet. One day you could be investigating a PHY layer issue, the next building Python automation, debugging a system-level problem or helping translate customer requirements into a test strategy.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to follow a script.
It's for an engineer who enjoys understanding how things work.
What makes it interesting?
- Advanced 5G and NTN technology
- Difficult technical problems that don't always have obvious answers
- Exposure across RF, software, systems and validation
- Customer-facing projects with real-world impact
- A small engineering team where people are trusted to make things happen
You'll probably have experience in some combination of:
- Wireless communications
- RF engineering or RF test
- Python development and automation
- System integration and validation
- 4G/5G, PHY or MAC layer technologies
- Troubleshooting complex technical issues
Most importantly, you'll be the type of engineer who enjoys solving problems, learning new things and taking ownership.
If you've spent your career close to wireless systems and still enjoy getting hands-on with technology, we'd like to hear from you.
