About the Opportunity
The Senior Software Engineer role is centered on building and optimizing a distributed file system that supports hyperscale storage infrastructure. This position is responsible for engineering core storage services, driving innovation in distributed system design, and delivering reliable, high-performance solutions that impact large-scale cloud storage products.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to define user requirements for new features.
Identify dependencies and develop design documentation with minimal oversight.
Implement and maintain code for products or features, reusing code when applicable.
Break down larger tasks into smaller work items and provide accurate estimations.
Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor systems and address outages or degradations.
Continuously update technical skills to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, and performance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, or Java, or equivalent experience.
Ability to pass required security screenings, including a cloud background check upon hire and periodically thereafter.
Preferred: Master’s Degree with 6+ years experience, or Bachelor’s with 8+ years experience in relevant languages.
Minimum 3 years experience in software engineering with strong skills in data structures, algorithms, debugging, and analytical problem solving.
Minimum 3 years experience working with storage, file systems, distributed systems, operating systems, or networking at scale.
Experience with operating system internals, production diagnostics, and leading complex investigations to improve system reliability.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Typical base pay range across the U.S. is USD 119,800 to 234,700 per year.
For San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, base pay range is USD 160,200 to 261,000 per year.
