Senior Scientist II - Research & Development

About This Role

The Senior Scientist II will manage the daily operations of Research & Development at Hester Biosciences, India. This role involves leading vaccine development projects, ensuring scientific excellence, and managing multidisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones on time. The position is well-suited for a scientist with extensive experience in veterinary vaccine or biological product development.

Responsibilities

• Drive day-to-day execution of vaccine development projects through multidisciplinary teams
• Plan and oversee laboratory, pilot-scale, and technology transfer activities
• Manage large animal and poultry vaccine studies, including safety, efficacy, potency, and challenge studies
• Develop, validate, and standardize biological and analytical assays for vaccine development
• Review scientific data, prepare technical reports, and support regulatory documentation
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, QA, QC, Regulatory Affairs, and other functions to achieve project milestones
• Mentor and supervise scientists and technical staff to ensure timely project execution
• Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, CPCSEA, IAEC, biosafety, and regulatory requirements
• Perform additional scientific and technical responsibilities assigned by the CSO

Requirements

• 10 to 15 years of experience in veterinary vaccine or biological product development
• Minimum 5 years in a senior managerial role managing multidisciplinary R&D teams
• Ph.D., M.V.Sc., or M.Sc. in Veterinary Microbiology, Virology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Microbiology, or related Life Sciences
• Technical expertise in early stage to clinical manufacturing including upstream, downstream, analytical and formulation domains specializing in cell culture based vaccines and animal experiments for preclinical and field trial activities
• Able people manager with skills to resolve conflicts, build a performing team and enable accountability with complete ownership
