About the role
Family-owned specialty chemical company is looking for an experienced coatings chemist for their new laboratory in Florida. If you have a chemistry background and 5+ years of experience in a paint and coatings laboratory this could be a great opportunity for you!
Duties:
- Design advanced 1K (acrylics, alkyds) and 2K (urethane, epoxy) coatings to meet strict customer and internal specifications.
- Adapt liquid coatings for aerosol delivery, managing propellant compatibility, pressure, and spray patterns.
- Oversee comprehensive testing including adhesion, weathering (QUV), corrosion / chemical resistance, and color matching.
- Transition successful lab formulations to full-scale plant manufacturing.
- Guide and train junior laboratory chemists in formulation techniques and lab safety.
Salary
$75,000 - $95,000

Technical Qualifications:
- 5+ years of formulating experience in the paint and coatings industry.
- Deep knowledge of acrylics, alkyds, 2K polyurethane / polyester, and epoxy-amine chemistries. Resin chemistry experience is a plus.
- Direct experience with industrial, automotive aftermarket, agricultural, or marine coatings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
