Senior Project Manager - AI Agent Development Section, Business Support Development Department (BSD)

About This Role

This senior project management role within the AI Agent Development Section of the Business Support Development Department focuses on leading projects through their entire lifecycle. The position involves defining project goals and scope, overseeing execution, managing budgets, and ensuring quality standards are met for AI-native solutions that empower Rakuten's business units.

Responsibilities

• Define project goals and scope by working closely with executives, business leaders, product managers, and technical teams
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment
• Oversee project execution, ensuring projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards
• Proactively manage risks and issues
• Serve as the main contact for executives, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and progress
• Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and optimizing resource use
• Work with the QA team to ensure the Ichiba platform is thoroughly tested and meets all quality requirements
• Coordinate the successful launch of new features and platform enhancements
• Identify and implement ways to improve project management processes and methods

Requirements

• More than 7 years of experience in project management for system development
• Experience of management for large scale projects (e.g. over 20 staff/month, parallel development)
• Experience of budget management, cost management
• Ability to read Japanese specifications and communicate in Japanese

• Knowledge of System Development
• Experience of reporting to executive/management level
• Proactively test and validate the latest AI, generative AI tools, and automation solutions
