This senior role focuses on the secure, stable, and efficient operation of enterprise Oracle database platforms, with a primary emphasis on Oracle database administration. The position also involves contributing to Linux administration activities, mainly in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, and collaborating with the Linux infrastructure team. It combines operational support, project delivery, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives, acting as an escalation point for complex issues and driving standardization.
Responsibilities
Administer Oracle databases in enterprise production environments
Manage Oracle database lifecycle, Data Guard, backup and recovery, migrations, and upgrades
Optimize Oracle database performance and provide operational support
Contribute to Linux administration activities, primarily in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
Collaborate closely with the Linux infrastructure team
Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues
Contribute to technical designs
Drive standardization and operational excellence
Requirements
Extensive hands-on experience administering Oracle databases in enterprise production environments
Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, patching, backup and recovery
Proven experience with Oracle Data Guard administration and troubleshooting
Experience planning and executing database migrations and version upgrades
Strong experience with RMAN, Data Pump, OPatch, and Oracle Enterprise Manager
Advanced SQL skills and practical PL/SQL experience
Experience in managing database security, access controls, and operational compliance requirements
Experience planning and executing backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery testing activities
Strong administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (from RHEL 6 to RHEL 10)
Practical experience with Linux patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, storage, networking, and system maintenance
Good understanding of Linux environments supporting Oracle database workloads
Ability to troubleshoot across databases, operating system, storage, and network components
Experience working within security, compliance, and lifecycle management standards
Strong Bash scripting skills
Practical Python experience for administration and automation tasks
Experience with Ansible or equivalent automation tools
Working knowledge of Git and version control practices
Experience automating operational and infrastructure processes
Understanding of testing, logging, error handling, and secure credential management within automation solutions
