About the role

  • Capella is looking for an energetic Senior Electrical Engineer Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing a team of electrical engineers who design, develop, and test electrical systems and components
  • This role involves supporting project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving innovation of our electrical systems within our satellite
  • This role will sit within the Spacecraft Engineering team at Capella Space. This team contains a variety of engineering disciplines that design and develop the satellite and payload systems
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback of a distributed team across two offices
  • Assign people to tasks and manage workloads to ensure timely project completion
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components for our application
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Support systems engineering requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical design, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement in electrical engineering practices and processes
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, including safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards in all engineering activities- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master’s degree or higher is preferred
  • Excellent design and manufacturing documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the PCBA fabrication and assembly process
  • Ability to work autonomously by determining and evaluating different courses of action independently
  • Extensive experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and other test equipment
  • Experience with Altium designer tools or other similar electronic CAD tools
  • Experience designing modern analog and digital electronics
  • Understanding of hardware evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, performance analysis, test automation, and data analysis
  • Proven experience in aerospace systems, or similar high reliability industry, and components is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs and systems in a hardware R&D lab environment, with 4 years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Strong technical communication skills to be used in a highly collaborative environment
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable
  • Experience with I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc
  • Experience designing high reliability systems
  • Familiarity with PLM tools and strong revision control practices
  • Experience in PCB schematic capture & layout
