Senior Lecturer / Lecturer

About This Role

This permanent appointment is for a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in the Psychology subject group, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student practice supervision, and postgraduate research supervision. The role is based at the Potchefstroom Campus within the Faculty of Health Sciences – School of Psychosocial Health.

Responsibilities

• Engage in teaching and learning on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Develop study material
• Facilitate contact sessions
• Perform internal and external moderation and assessment
• Supervise postgraduate students
• Conduct internal and external examination of postgraduate research dissertations and/or theses
• Participate in the applicable research entity
• Publish articles
• Conduct independent research and share expertise with diverse communities of practice and enquiry
• Maintain involvement in community service as a scholarly practice
• Execute activities by which discipline-based skills and knowledge are made relevant to the community
• Participate in faculty and school committees

Requirements

• Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (NQF level 9)
• Registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA
• Ability and experience to work from an evidence-based approach in Psychology
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, e-mails, PowerPoint, software for data analysis)
• Ability to use e-media for teaching, studying and communication
• Professional work ethic
• Ability to work well independently as well as in a team
• Good time management and ability to work well under pressure

For Senior Lecturer:

• Minimum of two to three (2-3) years' experience of teaching/learning university students on undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Interest in research with at least two articles in accredited scholarly journals and supervising one Master's student to completion
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in direct Clinical Psychology practice, supervision, or managerial functions

For Lecturer:

• Minimum of one (1) year's experience in the involvement of research
• Minimum of one (1) year's experience in direct Clinical Psychology practice, supervision, or managerial functions
• Minimum of one (1) year's experience of teaching/learning university students on undergraduate and postgraduate levels
