📍 Location: Jersey City, NJ (Local candidates only)
Interview Process
- Round 1: 45-minute Virtual Interview (Hands-on Java Coding + JVM & Performance Engineering)
- Round 2: 90-minute Onsite Interview (Java, JVM, AWS & Behavioral)
⚠️ Important: This is NOT a traditional P erformance Testing or QA role.
We are looking for a hands-on Java Performance Engineer with proven experience identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing code-level, JVM-level, and architectural optimizations to improve application throughput, latency, scalability, and reliability .
What We're Looking For
✅ 9+ years of Performance Engineering experience with strong Java development expertise
✅ Hands-on JVM tuning (GC, Heap, Memory & Thread Management)
✅ Java & Spring Boot performance optimization
✅ Performance testing experience (Load, Stress, Spike, Soak/Endurance, Volume & Capacity)
✅ Profiling Java applications and resolving memory leaks, GC issues, and thread bottlenecks
✅ Experience with Microservices, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed cloud environments
✅ Monitoring & profiling tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or AppDynamics
✅ Experience working on low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems (Capital Markets/Trading is a plus)
Ideal Experience
✔️ JVM tuning for latency-sensitive applications (G1GC, Heap optimization, GC tuning)
✔️ Designing high-concurrency, thread-safe Java applications
✔️ Profiling production workloads and eliminating performance bottlenecks
✔️ Engineering scalable, high-volume transaction processing systems
Key Responsibilities
- Lead performance engineering initiatives for Java-based microservices
- Design and execute performance tests across multiple testing types
- Perform JVM tuning and application performance optimization
- Analyze thread dumps, heap dumps, GC logs, CPU, and memory utilization
- Improve application scalability, throughput, and reliability
- Collaborate with Backend, DevOps, and Cloud teams
- Define performance best practices, SLOs, and mentor engineering teams
