Your New Role
Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Facilities Engineer to join their engineering team supporting a large-scale, technically advanced facility in Dublin.This position is ideal for an engineering professional with extensive experience managing critical HVAC infrastructure, mechanical utility systems, and energy efficiency initiatives within highly regulated environments such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or data centre facilities.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of essential building services while supporting operational excellence and long-term asset management strategies.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of critical HVAC and mechanical utility systems across the site.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimise Air Handling Units (AHUs), ventilation systems, chilled water networks, cooling equipment, and associated plant.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance activities to maximise system reliability and minimise downtime.
- Utilise SCADA, BMS, and monitoring platforms to analyse system performance, identify abnormalities, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead fault-finding investigations and root cause analysis for complex mechanical and HVAC issues.
- Support the planning and execution of system upgrades, refurbishments, and capital improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, plant performance, and operational sustainability.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Review technical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and engineering documentation to support maintenance and project activities.
- Ensure maintenance programmes are completed in compliance with site standards, KPIs, and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records through maintenance management systems and engineering documentation platforms.
- Participate in commissioning, validation, and handover of new or upgraded mechanical systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, performance, and cost optimisation.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience working within critical facilities, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, data centre, or industrial environments.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, AHUs, ventilation systems, chilled water systems, cooling plant, and mechanical building services.
- Experience using SCADA, BMS, or building automation systems to monitor and manage plant performance.
- Proven track record delivering energy-saving and mechanical improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programmes and asset management principles.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and HVAC issues.
- Experience overseeing system upgrades, equipment replacement projects, and commissioning activities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong organisational abilities with experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of maintenance management software and engineering reporting systems.
