About This Role
This senior engineering role is for a game developer with strong experience in real-time graphics, rendering, simulation systems, networking, and performance optimization. The person will ship real-time applications across web and desktop platforms and build scalable, high-performance systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and optimize real-time rendering systems including scene graphs, draw order, culling, batching, and level of detail
- Develop 3D and isometric rendering with camera systems, coordinate projection, depth sorting, picking, and hit testing
- Render large numbers of simultaneous entities without frame drops
- Design simulation and game loop architecture, including update/render separation, fixed timestep, and frame budgeting
- Build systems driven by live external state and reconcile updates under latency
- Implement real-time networking or state synchronization such as multiplayer netcode, replication, or client-side prediction
- Develop RTS, simulation, or management-game interaction patterns including unit selection, multi-select, control groups, camera control, order queueing, alerts, and notifications
- Profile and optimize performance across CPU, GPU, and memory, including lower-spec hardware
- Work within established art and design direction
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a game developer or real-time graphics engineer, with shipped products across web and desktop
- Strong real-time rendering fundamentals, including scene graphs, draw order, culling, batching, and level of detail
- Experience with 3D and isometric rendering, including camera systems, coordinate projection, depth sorting, picking, and hit testing
- Proven experience rendering large numbers of simultaneous entities without frame drops
- At least one shipped title or application running on both web and desktop
- Strong understanding of simulation and game loop architecture, including update/render separation, fixed timestep, and frame budgeting
- Experience building systems driven by live external state and reconciling updates under latency
- Real-time networking or state synchronization experience, such as multiplayer netcode, replication, or client-side prediction
- Strong engineering skills in TypeScript, C++, or C#
- Experience with version control, code review, and automated testing
