We are seeking an experienced
Senior Functional Business Analyst
to lead complex functional analysis and requirements definition for business-critical initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and capable of independently investigating
conflicting business rules, workbooks, processes, and data,
identifying gaps and inconsistencies, and translating findings into clear, detailed, and development-ready requirements.

This role requires someone who can work closely with
Client Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
while proactively leading discovery conversations, determining the inputs and decisions required, and driving requirements to closure without requiring step-by-step direction.

Note:
This is remote with some onsite travel for a workshop.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently investigate and reconcile
  conflicting business rules, workbooks, processes, and data
  across multiple sources.
• Analyze complex business processes and identify gaps, inconsistencies, dependencies, and exceptions.
• Translate business findings into detailed and
  development-ready functional requirements.
• Define and document detailed
  calculation logic,
  formulas, and processing rules.
• Develop comprehensive
  decision tables
  to clearly represent complex business rules and outcomes.
• Identify and document business exceptions, edge cases, and exception-handling requirements.
• Define appropriate
  business controls
  and validation requirements.
• Develop detailed
  validation scenarios
  to ensure business rules and calculation logic are implemented correctly.
• Work collaboratively with
  Client SMEs
  to understand business processes and obtain required inputs.
• Independently determine what information, inputs, and decisions are required from SMEs rather than relying on stakeholders to prescribe the analysis approach.
• Proactively lead SME discussions by asking relevant questions, challenging assumptions, identifying gaps, and driving conversations toward clear outcomes.
• Resolve ambiguity and conflicting requirements through structured analysis and stakeholder discussions.
• Take end-to-end ownership of
  functional analysis and documentation
  with minimal supervision.
• Partner closely with development and QA teams to ensure requirements are sufficiently detailed for implementation and testing.
• Support developers and testers with functional clarifications throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete, and traceable functional documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. 7–10 years
   of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, or similar role.
2. Strong experience performing complex
   functional and business analysis.
3. Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile conflicting requirements, business rules, processes, spreadsheets/workbooks, and data.
4. Strong experience documenting:
   • Business and functional requirements
   • Calculation logic

   • Exceptions and edge cases

5. Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities.

8. Demonstrated ability to
   lead SME discussions and discovery sessions independently.
9. Ability to identify the information required from SMEs and proactively drive conversations to obtain it.
10. Experience translating ambiguous business requirements into precise specifications for development and QA teams.
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
12. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take complete ownership of assigned functional areas.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working on complex
  financial, credit, underwriting, pricing, or rules-based business processes.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and complex business workbooks.
• Experience performing data analysis and reconciliation.
• Understanding software development and testing lifecycles.
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, process mapping, and requirements management tools.
• Experience working directly with enterprise customers and senior business stakeholders.
