About the role

The Senior Designer / Creative Manager is responsible for translating audience insights, business objectives, and core messaging into compelling campaign concepts and creative solutions that drive engagement and advance organizational goals, while also creating and overseeing assets that support existing campaigns, brand initiatives, and non-campaign outreach needs across multiple channels.

As a creative leader, this individual mentors junior team members, providing strategic guidance and constructive feedback. They serve as a primary quality-control reviewer for creative output, ensuring all work aligns with campaign objectives, brand standards, audience needs, accessibility requirements, and creative best practices.

This is a contract position that is 40 hours per week that could lead into a fulltime offer after 6 months.

Location: Washington, DC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transform audience insights, strategic messaging, and business goals into innovative campaign concepts and creative executions.
  • Design and develop creative assets for campaigns, ongoing marketing initiatives, brand storytelling, and ad hoc communication needs.
  • Review and approve team deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, brand adherence, and alignment with campaign objectives.
  • Partner with marketing, communications, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful, audience-centered creative solutions.
  • Maintain and champion brand standards while continuously elevating the quality and effectiveness of creative work across the organization.
  • Time management is essential. This role requires strict adherence to production schedules and working with junior team members to ensure they meet deadlines and helping out when there are any turnaround issues.

Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of experience in graphic design, creative services, advertising, or integrated marketing.
  • Demonstrated success developing campaign concepts and executing multi-channel creative initiatives.
  • Experience managing or mentoring creative professionals.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing strategic thinking, campaign development, and design excellence.
  • Expert knowledge of design tools, brand development, and creative best practices.
  • Knowledge of Workfront a plus, knowledge of similar production flow programs required.
