Senior Civil Engineer - Transportation

About This Role

Shaping the future of a growing transportation team in Austin, this senior civil engineer will lead roadway design, mentor other engineers, and deliver transportation projects. This role offers the opportunity to influence a growing practice with the resources, technical expertise, and established portfolio of an integrated engineering and construction firm. The successful candidate will be part of project teams from initial design through construction, adapting designs according to project constraints, design factors, and client needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation design and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to design roadway transportation projects
• Coordinate with project managers and discipline leads to establish priorities, delegate work, and manage design schedules and deliverables
• Lead teams through challenging designs and schedules, taking pride in a job well done and the people you mentor along the way
• Communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders, translating complex concepts and inspiring enthusiasm for the important work delivered to communities
• Assist team leaders and PM
• Participate in the development of project fees, schedules, scopes, budgets, staff planning and construction planning
• Manage change orders effectively
• Mentor engineers and designers through technical guidance, constructive feedback, and opportunities to take on greater responsibility
• Perform quality reviews for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor
• Minimum 10 years of experience; experience working in the related civil roadway transportation industry preferred
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
• Experience in the development of contract documents related to drawings and specifications
• Experience with leading the design discipline for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members
• Ability to lead the execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines while working on multiple projects concurrently
• Knowledge of transportation engineering methodologies and standards including but not limited to the TxDOT Roadway Design Manual and the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, etc.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer and/or Autocad Civil 3D design software, Excel, and Word
• Experience working with local governments, agencies, DOTs, and private-sector clients
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
• Ability to travel
