Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a highly specialized Digital Assets Engineering team responsible for building secure, scalable infrastructure supporting the future of institutional digital finance. This is a hands-on backend software engineering role focused on developing secure digital asset custody platforms, blockchain integrations, and wallet technologies using modern cryptographic frameworks.
The ideal candidate is first and foremost an experienced software engineer who understands secure programming, distributed systems, and blockchain technologies. You will partner with cryptographers and security specialists to implement—not invent—cryptographic solutions while helping build enterprise-grade custody platforms for tokenized assets.
This role is based in New York, NY or Pittsburgh, PA, and follows a hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite per week.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Backend Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain secure backend applications supporting digital asset custody platforms and blockchain infrastructure
-
Secure Programming: Build security-focused software using Rust, Go, or C/C++, implementing cryptographic frameworks and secure coding best practices
-
Digital Asset Development: Develop solutions supporting digital wallets, blockchain integrations, tokenized assets, and secure transaction processing
-
Cryptographic Integration: Work alongside cryptographers to implement secure cryptographic libraries, MPC frameworks, and key management solutions within enterprise applications
-
Threat Modeling & Security Reviews: Perform threat modeling, secure code reviews, vulnerability analysis, and security testing to identify and mitigate application risks
-
Blockchain Integration: Build and maintain integrations with blockchain nodes and APIs while supporting transaction creation, signing, and secure communication across distributed networks
-
Infrastructure Security: Develop secure storage solutions for encrypted key material, audit logs, and sensitive application data while leveraging hardware security technologies and trusted execution environments
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with software engineers, security architects, and product teams to deliver highly secure, resilient digital asset solutions
Qualifications:
-
4+ years of experience developing secure backend applications or security-focused software solutions
-
Strong programming experience using Rust (preferred), Go, C++, or similar backend languages
-
Experience developing blockchain applications, smart contracts, or tokenized asset platforms
-
Knowledge of blockchain technology, digital wallets, tokenization, and digital asset ecosystems
-
Experience implementing or working with cryptographic libraries, secure protocols, or cryptographic frameworks
-
Understanding of secure software development practices, threat modeling, and secure application design
-
Experience integrating with blockchain nodes, APIs, and distributed systems
-
Familiarity with hardware security technologies such as Intel SGX, Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), or Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)
-
Experience with Multi-Party Computation (MPC) frameworks or secure wallet technologies
-
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively
Preferred Experience:
-
Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cryptography, Engineering, or a related discipline
-
Background building digital asset custody or financial technology solutions
-
Experience within financial services, banking, fintech, or digital asset organizations
-
Familiarity with cloud security, containerization, and enterprise-scale distributed systems
-
Experience working with highly secure, regulated technology environments
