About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Adjuster to join our Asia Pacific Division based in Mumbai, India. Reporting directly to Benjamin Lin, Vice President, Operations Claims Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing complex property and business interruption claims within the region. This position involves investigating, negotiating, and settling large-scale claims, ensuring timely and equitable resolutions. The Claims Adjuster will be responsible for developing and nurturing strong relationships with clients, demonstrating high levels of credibility and professionalism through exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.
The role requires a proactive approach to loss investigation, effective communication with insured parties, and the ability to handle multiple claims efficiently. The successful candidate will be expected to travel extensively, sometimes at short notice, to facilitate claim assessments and negotiations directly at client sites or other locations. Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in engineering or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of claims handling experience within the insurance industry, particularly in property and business interruption claims.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- Willingness to travel extensively, often on short notice, to meet business needs.
This role may be offered at different grade levels depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The selected candidate may also be seconded to either London Operations or Asia Operations for up to one year to gain further on-the-job training and international exposure.
Responsibilities The main responsibilities of the Claims Adjuster include, but are not limited to:
- Investigating and assisting insured clients in loss mitigation activities, including salvage operations, restoration of production, claims preparation, and subrogation efforts.
- Engaging in detailed consultations with the insured’s senior management to understand the scope and impact of claims.
- Negotiating with insured parties to reconcile differences regarding loss measurement and coverage, ensuring fair and equitable settlements.
- Maintaining strong rapport with clients to facilitate prompt and favorable claim resolutions.
- Assessing damages, reviewing policy coverage, and determining liability in complex property and business interruption claims.
- Preparing detailed claim reports and documentation to support settlement processes.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, including legal and technical experts, to facilitate efficient claim handling.
- Traveling extensively within the region, sometimes at short notice, to conduct on-site investigations and negotiations.
